Richard Wagner: Rienzi /Kohler-Brenneis-Altmeyer-Linos /

É uma «histórica» e a transmissão não é das melhores. Mas vale a pena...

Cinema Francês: Detective (185), de Jean-Luc Godard.

A banda sonora é soberba. Um desfile de temas conhecidos...
Uma banda sonora que é uma experiência ( há excertos wagnerianos...) Adoro.
Vejam o filme, e leiam o artigo sobre o mesmo. Reparem no excerto:

« Formal experimentation in Détective extends to the structure of the film itself. An obvious example can be noted in the way the credits don’t appear at the start or the end of the film but are, instead, interspersed throughout, contributing to the overall sense of disjunction and dislocation. But what is most striking about Détective are the experiments with the soundtrack. Détective is Godard’s first stereo film, and, with his collaborators, he takes the opportunity to play around with the music of Schubert, Wagner, Chopin, Liszt, Honegger, Chabrier, Ornette Coleman, and Jean Schwarz in surprising ways. There are times when the music functions emotionally, melodically, as it would in a genre film. But there are other times when the music is in the foreground, dominating the image, and creating a timbre and texture all of its own.»

Imperdível, hem?

Richard Wagner na Animação: What´s Opera, Doc?

Imperdível... Uma produção espantosa, vejam o artigo na Wikipedia:
«What's Opera, Doc? is a 1957 American animated cartoon short in the Merrie Melodies series, directed by Chuck Jones for Warner Bros. Cartoons. The Michael Maltese story features Elmer Fudd chasing Bugs Bunny through a parody of 19th-century classical composer Richard Wagner's operas, particularly Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung), Der Fliegende Hollander, and Tannhäuser. It is sometimes characterized as a condensed version of Wagner's Ring Cycle, and its music borrows heavily from the second opera Die Walküre.

Divirtam-se!!!

Wagner no Cinema: Magic Fire (1955), de William Dieterle

Eis quatro belos cartazes para o filme Magic Fire....

Eis parte do cast:
Peter Cushing ... Otto Wesendonck
Frederick Valk ... Minister von Moll
Gerhard Riedmann ... King Ludwig II
Erik Schumann ... Hans von Bülow

Diz-nos o artigo da Wikipedia:

«Directed by William Dieterle, the film made extensive use of Wagner's actual music, which was arranged by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. Dieterle worked with Korngold on several Warner Bros. films, including A Midsummer Night's Dream and Juarez. It was one of the final films Republic made in the two-strip color process known as Trucolor.
Although many details about Wagner's life were accurately portrayed, the film often distorted some facts, apparently for dramatic purposes. One high point was the accurate depiction of the riot at the Paris Opera House for the premiere of the revised version of Tannhäuser. The film depicted King Ludwig II's patronage of Wagner, without going into much detail about the king's controversial personality.
The film used a very large cast, opulent sets, and lavish costumes. Since Republic was known primarily for westerns and adventure serials, Magic Fire was one of the rare "prestige" films to be produced by studio chief Herbert Yates. Nevertheless, critical response was mixed and box office receipts in the U.S. were disappointing.»

Wagner no cinema

Gravação rara com Korngold ao piano a interpretar temas de O Navio Fantasma. A obra fazia parte da banda sonora de «Magic Fire», realizado em 1955, um filme de William Dieterle sobre a biografia de Richard Wagner...
Korngold apareceu no filme. Este pequeno vídeo apresenta algumas fotos do filme...
